Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)

Chives are the smallest member of the onion family and one of the easiest herbs to grow. They have a wonderfully mild onion flavor, rich but subtle, and perfect for any dish that does not need to be overwhelmed with strong tastes. Chives do best when planted in full sun in rich, well-drained soil, although they will tolerate light shade and most soil types.
